SITE PLOT
It was a surprise to everyone when the illness swept through the world. It decimated the human population and killed everyone. But they didn’t stay dead. The infected rose from their graves and started to hunt the living, devouring flesh, muscle, organs, and fat. The infection spread quite easily, a bite, a scratch, it was all that it took for the infection to take hold and begin the process of converting what was once living, into the walking undead. Their main purpose to feed, only inhibited by the infections will to survive, corpses would be devoured and feasted upon until the corpse could no longer sustain damage and risk becoming useless. With enough time, the corpse reanimates and joins the horde that created it.
The Sanctuary wall was built by a group of army personnel, on the border of Queensland and New South Wales, Australia. As a last ditch effort to protect themselves and their families, it was outfitted to resist the infection and acted as a last stand. The wall was overrun by zombies and the sanctuary was abandoned. A group of survivors came along after the zombies had left and built onto the wall, making it higher and attaching platforms so that they could patrol the perimeter.
The main weakness was the gate. It was just a hole in the wall where they had parked two army vehicles to block it. This was where the second group failed as well. The third group to come across the sanctuary found some metal doors that would fit in the hole and built a smaller wall around the entrance to provide a buffer if the main gate failed.
Despite the success, the group left, perhaps seeking more fruitful ground. And so a few lonely survivors stumbled across the place, finding the wall and all its security welcoming them. Survivors trickled in, and they decided together, that it would be the base of operations. The centre of their attempt to take the world back from the undead.
A year later, the safe zone was found again, by a young woman named Magella. She is working to bring in survivors, to take back the land around them. Beside the gate is a white board, with two numbers written on it. One is the world population the day the illness hit, the other is the population of Australia. It is an estimation of how much work they have to do before they can rid the world of the new danger they face. It is their competition.
